A FASCINATION WITH MAPPING THE WORLD - THE WORK OF JONI SMITH

Joni Smith enhances and re-imagines the perceptual mapping out of a landscape on paper, playfully using collage and cutting techniques to create new associations between different map locations. Her paper constructions are perfectly re-formed on the page, knowing just how far to go in breaking down the satellite accuracy of GPS in modern map-making to open up potential for her alternate interpretation. Impeccably handcrafted, Smiths work encompasses drawing, paper cutting, painting installation and sculpture.

JUST OVER A MONTH BEFORE WE OPEN AT HOUGHTON HALL

Just over a month to go before we open our POP UP shop in the Stables at Houghton Hall from Sunday 25 March, ending 29 July 2018. We will feature a selection of new work by 40+ of Norfolk’s finest craftspeople and artists from across generations, a few from the wider area of East Anglia – many showing with us for the first time. It will coincide with the Damien Hirst exhibition (March 25 – July 15, 2018).

We are showing Claire Moynihan's work once again in Norfolk by Design following on from a successful group show in December 2016. She hand-embroiders intricate British insects and invertebrates on to small spheres of alpaca felt.
